Objective: a player elimination game that is implemented in such a way that it is still fun. Maybe it is a quick game like love letter. Maybe it is a longer game but the eliminated players still have a role to play like in werewolf via the "ghost writer" ability. Or maybe you finish is off in the most glorious fashion possible, so humorous that we are dying laughing for the next 30 minutes.
As many of you know, I (Sean Howard), have long been an opponent of player elimination games. However, recently I have come to terms with my frustration and realized it isn't the mechanic i dislike-it is how badly the mechanic has been abused.
Monopoly and Risk are among the most well known offenders but my irritation flared up at recent games like Bang! where players can be eliminated and have to sit around for an hour.
Game Designers need to take note of all players, even eliminated players, to truly make an enjoyable experience for all.
