Minion Games presents The Manhattan Project Dice Challenge.

With their newest Kickstarter for Manhattan Project 2: Minutes to Midnight, Minion Games will have 4 popular games set in the same IP / Universe. We are looking to still add more. This is an exciting opportunity to get your game design and name associated with an already successful brand.

We are seeking a game that can incorporate the essence and theme of the Manhattan Project game series. This game must be easy to learn and acceptable for all. It should contain some common concepts like Uranium and nuclear weapons or energy as well as multiple classes of workers or actions to take. The eventual cost of this game should be $40 or less, but Minion Games doesn't wish to restrict the designs by them worrying too much about that so it is not part of the rules. But obviously don't make a game requiring a huge number of dice or large box.

James Mathe, from Minion Games, will be judging the contest.

To qualify, your game must comply with all of the following rules:

  • Plays in 1 hour or less, preferably less.
  • Must support player count from 1-4 (yes a solo mode is required).
  • Light to medium weight design / complexity.
  • Must incorporate theme and hopefully a bit of the feel of the other Manhattan Project games.
  • You are welcome to use any printables or game pieces available in our shop to create your game.
  • Must use custom dice as a major part of the game, though it can include other bits and cards.
  • A rules document must be downloadable from your game's shop page and also included in the game itself. Can be in booklet or document form.
  • The game must be publish ready (as it relates to our shop, not as it relates to being finished). This means it has a logo, backdrop, shop ad, action shots, description, and cool factors. It must also have all images proofed, and have a box.
  • This must be a new game created for this contest. It cannot have existed on TGC prior to the start of the contest.
  • All artwork must be your own, commissioned by you, licensed to you, or in the public domain. Also, for the purposes of this contest, Minion Games grants you a limited license to use its artwork in your game, but only for the duration of the contest. You can download some licensed artwork here. You can also download some from Board Game Geek, or even scan your own personal copy of Manhattan Project.
  • All entries must be submitted through TGC's game editor (by clicking on the "Contests" button) no later than Noon UTC (7am US Central Daylight Time) on September 18, 2017.
  • Contestants may submit multiple entries to this contest. Each entry will be judged separately.

Notes

You retain all rights to your game and are welcome to sell it in our shop after the contest, regardless of the outcome of the contest.

The first round of judging is handled by a community voting process. The final two rounds are handled by the judge. See complete details.

Prizes

The winner shall receive all of the following prizes:

  • Consideration for publishing. Minion Games can't guarantee they'll publish your game but they will work with both winners toward achieving their final goals for the game.

  • A Manhattan Project T-shirt and first player button.
  • Automatic Showcase status for their game on thegamecrafter.com.
