This is a new route to experiencing Vanaheim adventures! This box contains everything you need to make and explore your first dungeons!
"Vanaheim Level 1 Adventures" is entirely stand-alone, but can be extended to match the wealth of content in the original box by purchasing the later level packs.
A stream-lined version of the full v1.1 box, this edition focuses on level 1 adventures in order to give people a more affordable entrance into the World of Vanaheim. You can 'level up' this game with the next set "Vanaheim level 2-3 Fame and Fortune" which continues this set into the midgame.
If you already own Vanaheim v1.1, you do not need this set but the additional monsters, items and other cards can be bought in the "Decisions & Domains" expansion set (coming soon).
Welcome to Vanaheim
A game of exploration, survival and open ended adventures. You will explore caves and dungeons to find treasure and defeat evil using different weapons, abilities and talents. Should you survive, return to the safety of the town to recover from wounds, find new quests and expand the settlement.
Objective
The game is designed to be played more than once with the same character, reflecting their trials and successes as they grow in fame and strength, similar to a role-playing game.
We firmly believe games should be more enjoyable to play than to win. As such, Vanaheim has a focus on continuing your adventure, with friends or solo, rather than getting to the end. Unlike most dungeon crawls, it is up to the player if they wish to carry on into the unknown, or whether to head back and sell wat treasures they have found. An immersive town phase brings a sense of belonging to the game, giving the player a base of operations to develop as they grow in fame.
Gameplay
This is a map-building dungeon crawl with character advancement, inventory management as well as town development.
Create a Warrior, Scout or Sage with different abilities, talents and equipment.
Randomly create a map deck and place cards to create a sprawling dungeon. Each map card contains a chance of treasure or monsters, while a fast and simple combat system allows for high-threat encounters with a ton of loot to find as rewards. Quests and Adventures give objectives and opportunities to each game, but following these are your choice!
Return to the town and spend your hard-earned coins on new buildings to develop your settlement, or to rest and recover from the injuries suffered in your last adventure!
Unlike the full box which comes with them, you will need a few 6 sided dice to play.
What's Next?
The next set is "Fame and Fortune", which contains new skills and spells, along with plenty of items, treasure, traps and monsters. New map cards introduce "Decisions" - choices that make your dungeons dynamic.
Power up your character to level 2 and 3, choosing attributes to improve.
