E. D. Jasbeck’s Original Non-stick* Stick Figure** Tarot is a poker-sized deck consisting of 78 brand-new, charmingly elegant illustrations of the traditional tarotic archetypes used throughout centuries of cartomantic divination. Their straightforward simplicity of design enables the skilled cartomancer to discover each querent’s unconscious resonances with surgical precision. And they’re fun, too!
Basically, I wanted to design a tarot deck that anyone can use, with or without prior experience. As a reader, I've helped many people to see what was going on in the backs of their minds, but the illustrations on the cards I was using were often a barrier to that understanding, since I had to explain what I had learned about what the designers had intended them to mean. Traditional decks might be plain as day to medieval scholars, but the rest of us have to study them intensively, and modern decks are usually shoehorned into a particular theme, which creates its own complications (although some of them are really cool).
The archetypes that traditional tarot cards represent are all part of the collective unconscious (or they wouldn't work), so theoretically, we should be able to recognize them immediately by looking at the pictures in front of us. Hopefully my cartoons make it easier to do that.
*Although care has been taken to reduce the susceptibility of these archetypal images to energetic stickiness, some attachments may occur. Avoid harsh or abrasive cleansing.
**Not all cards contain stick figures.
