When I was developing this game, I would say that I am an intermediate to expert player, I wanted to get chess back into the game night rotation and help long term player loosen up and enjoy a variation. The target audience is:
-Beginners who think chess is boring.
-Experienced chess players who are looking for a new challenge or to mix up their game play.
-Grandmasters that have memorized many of the typical board set ups and would be challenged by new layouts.
