Description

THE HORNS OF GILIATH

THE RETURN TO GILIATH

The Horns of Giliath is a semi-cooperative role playing game where the players explore, destroy and save the world of Feldamars. Many tales have been spun about this world and many lands lie inside of it.

The Kingdom of Giliath

Most of the stories herein take place in the year 3020 in the Fourth Eon of Giliath, the land of King Falamor IX, a young king who is yet to prove his mettle. Giliath is a peaceful trading kingdom between the Great mountains and the Giliathi river. Because of Giliath’s position on the Giliathi, it has become the largest trading port in this region of Feldamars. Upon entering Falad, the capital of Giliath, the Great Horns of Giliath sound the arrival of each new boat. To the North are the wide, grassy plains of Kerafal, a vassal state of Giliath, where culture often mimics that of southern Swesta.

The Swestan Confederation

The Swestan Confederation was founded in the year 130 following the Great war as a way for the tribes around the Swestan river to feel more independent. The people of Swesta have so many sheep that they outnumber humans by four to one. The Swestan are fiercely independent but historically are allied with Giliath and Kerafal. Their land in theory encompasses the land between the Great Mountains, the Swestan river, and the Rosterios hills, but in practice, the Rosterios hills and the Eastern Swestan are occupied by the Dwarves of the Ironring clan.

The Hills of Rosterios

No one king will ever rule these unkempt lands, for in the Second Eon they were occupied by the Shorë peoples, who transcended death by becoming the Fel Ones. Though the Shorë have now left, their footprint remains, and all who are not native always feel uneasy. At night giant ros hawks will descend to terrorize surface dwellers. The only humanoids who survive are the exiled Dwarves from Tequestran, now known as the Ironring, Magnus and Hammersong clans. They have a prophecy that one will come to save the Sea Dwarves and will be called the Rosterion. They were sent from Tequestran to locate the Waverider clan, (Commonly known as sea Dwarves) and bring them home. They swore to never return until the sea Dwarves were back in Tequestran again. Unfortunately, the sea Dwarves had set out to destroy the Twin Kingdoms of Necrogil and Draguboh and were decimated in the process. Because of this, the exiles could never return.

The Elves of Elor

Even farther North lie the Mountains of the North, which hide the Far Elvish city of Elor and the dark shadows of the Fel Lands. The Tenashaki and Shimana Elves in the Second Eon had settlements everywhere. By the Fourth Eon, the Tenashaki Elves had all but faded away and the Shimana had become very distant, and became known as the Far Elves, to distinguish them from the outgoing Song Elves (Boshuwari Elves) that live on the reverse side of the Dividing Sea. The Far Elves had become so spiritual they could ‘reach out’ and speak with the Ullian gods, or see very slightly into the future. The most powerful of them could use ‘far sight’ and see the world as the Ullians saw it.

The Fel Lands

In the Second Eon, the Shorë people transcended Death to become the Fel. They left Rosterios to dwell in the Fel Lands, a connection of tunnels and caverns connected to the surface by portals called Deepwells. The Fel are withdrawn from mortal affairs and have a strict policy of neutrality. The Fel have spent many Eons building their castles and palaces, and they are more majestic and regal than the most glorious surface castle. Though they are honorable, they dwell in the shadows, but they are no friend of the Orcs of Necrogil.

The Twin Kingdoms

In the shadows of these mountains lie the small remnants of mighty empires of the Third Eon, The Twin Kingdoms of Draguboh and Necrogil. In the Third Eon, Draguboh was an empire created by some Fel who protested their neutrality and broke away. The Far Elves saw this as a threat, so allied with the Human kingdoms of Nalma and Ehramo, the Dragons, the Mangus and Waverider Clans of Dwarves, and the rest of the Fel (who considered this a threat to their neutrality and not a true war), they invaded the broken plains between the Mountains of the North and after defeating the majority of the Draguboh, the rest were cursed by the Elf Mage Kyūseishu to either die or become feral, most chose the latter at soon all the remnant of the Draguboh had given in to their feral side and became the Fel Wolves, forever trapped between their dual natures. Some more Fel Fel Wolves, known as ‘rememberers’ soon organized a state of sorts, led by Mentis. The Orc Kingdom of Necrogil was much older, dating to the Second Eon where the Orc Warchief (In the Fel Tongue ‘Olan’) Maar of Bloodwave united the tribes and became the first Tolak, or supreme Olan of all the lands bathed in shadow (literally the ‘Necro gila pesh’). Tolak Maar was a very good leader who drove the last of the Song Elves from the Western Shores of the Dividing Sea. After allying with the Shorë, (who were not the Fel yet) and the Dwarves of Ironring clan, he build an armada and began an Elvish genocide. Eventually, the Far Elves summoned the Ullian god Kamisama who killed thousands of Bloodwave orcs (who later lost in the Orc War to Warcry), Ironring Dwarves (who swore to destroy the orcs forever after), and Shorë (who transcended death and became the Fel) ending the Second Eon. Later, in the early Fourth Eon, Menti Nepharat, a Fel Wolf, and Olan Timak, an orc Olan of Warcry, joined together to found the Twin Kingdoms to challenge human supremacy of basically everywhere. From the Sakura in the North to the Yeroborians in the South.

The Yeroborian Republic

The only threat to Giliath's easy peace seems to be Yerobor, Giliath's main trade rival. In the end of the third age, the Yeroborian people, (then known as the Olapanimantaka) had taken most of the Yeroborian peninsula and appeared to be unstoppable. The Yeroborian-Giliathi-Posha treaty of 2853 stated that Giliath, Yerobor and the now extinct kingdom of Posha would not go to war. Unfortunately this did not mean trade war and now in Giliath anti-Yeroborian feelings are very common. The Capital city of Yero is a place where one may brush shoulders with Fireblood orc hunters selling fresh meat, Magnus Dwarf armorers, selling weapons, Giliathi Traders selling the finest (and most expensive) spices, Song Elf Bards whose songs carry emotions of all sorts, and Sakuran Horse trainers, whose battle-hardened steeds can brave every environment.

The Sakuran Hordes

The Sakuran Hordes are mounted warriors from the Steppes who will stop at nothing to expand their lands. They were akin to the Shorë. They ride horses like an extension of their body and if they are not stopped, they will rule all of Feldamars.

One day, Blador, a Giliathi spy in Sakuran held lands discovers something that could change the world of Feldamars forever.
