Tafl is one of the oldest known board games, originating in Northern Europe around 400 AD.
What makes Tafl unique among strategy games is its asymmetrical game play. One player commands the viking raiding party, and the other player is given control of the defending village. There are twice as many vikings trying to overwhelm the defenders and kill their king, but the defender is just trying to escape with their king alive.
In addition to the classic Hnefatafl ruleset, this edition includes optional rules for Berserkers, Shieldwalls, and Skilled mode.
This game contains laser cut components. Laser cut items will have a slight amount of soot around the edges, which can easily be wiped off; and will have a campfire smell for about a week after you open them.
