Tam cúc is a traditional Vietnamese card game which uses its own uniqe deck based on the pieces used in Vietnamese chess (cờ tướng). Because of this, the deck is asymetrical. That is, certain cards appear more frequently. For example, there is only one general per colour, but there are five soldiers.
Tam cúc is a multi-trick game, which means that the person leading decides whether to play 1, 2, or 3 cards to the trick. This means that tam cúc features elements of both trick taking games and melding games! A combination that is sure to delight all who play.
The Jean de Lorraine tam cúc deck features traditional design with accesibility in mind for new players. Traditional decks use thinner cards with only the picture and the Chữ Hán (Chinese characters) to mark the cards. This can make it more difficult to use if you are not familiar with this style. And so, this tam cúc deck uses bridge size cards with English and Vietnamese idinces.
