Sanity Test for Obelisk

73/100
Final Score
The rules have excellent content, but proofreading and a few additions would make them outstanding.

Rules 58/80

Structure 7/9

Mostly good.
The Tiles section should be moved up before the end game section.
The components would be better toward the beginning.

Requirements 0/3

The rules should list play time, number of players, and age range. These can simply be icons at the top of the rules.

Introduction 0/3

If space permits, adding a thematic introduction would be good. Provide a setting and reason for playing. Where are the monsters from? What's at stake?

Overview 3/3

Excellent summary of play and win/loss condition.
A few typos.
Consistently capitalize Build Phase.
"a monster leaves [the] map"
"e.g." should be "i.e." in this case.

Component List 4/5

List of items and counts but no images.
I know you're trying to conserve space, but this section would be better at the beginning than the end of the rules.
"Green Rotation Ma[r]kers"
"Monsters Cubes" sounds weird. "Monster" is better.
I'd write "Player Guides: 5x five-player, 4x three- to four-player, 2x two-player."

Component Pictures 2/3

Not really needed.

Setup 8/10

Overall, good.
You're missing the step of putting the extra cubes into the box after populating the monster bag.
It would be helpful to have the Handicap text offset in a call-out box or at least in a different font.
Is the handicap intended to be different for each number of players? If not, simplify the number of cubes box.

Setup Pictures 5/7

Not needed.

Game Play 15/15

Overall, very good.
Place a Tower: I'd specify that the locations are the black corners of the tiles.
Typo: "Towers starts..."
Rotate a Tile: I assume you can rotate fewer than the maximum tiles.
Upgrade any Tower: The "Once" seems superfluous and if anything, confusing.
The sentence about if you have two actions isn't really needed since you specify above that you can take the same action twice in the two-player game. (I assume that is the only way to have two actions?) In fact, as-is it's a little confusing that it mentions having two actions.
I assume the ANY is to indicate any player's tower. That should be spelled out in the description.
Similarly, the process of changing the die face should be stated as how you physically do the upgrade.
Trade Resources: I'd prefer "any time" with a space. Are there any restrictions on trades, for example, can one player just give their resources to another player?
Move Phase: Typo: "attemp[t]"
Monster Movement: Typo "determin[e]s [the] number..."
It's weird that it says the number varies, but they're all 6.

Game Play Pictures 5/7

Adequate.

End Point 5/6

How do you keep track of whether a monster has walked in a loop?

Overall Comprehension 4/4

Excellent.

Clarity 0/3

Too many typos, some noted in other sections.

Presentation 0/2

For the downloadable PDF, it would be nice if the pages were in order for viewing on screen.
It says full-sized manual available at TGC, but it's not linked as a download.
The mini version isn't too bad, but it looks very cramped. (I'd give 1 point, but that's not an option.)
I prefer examples to be offset somehow, at minimum by using a different font.

Shop Presentation 15/20

Ad 2/3

The image looks a little amateurish. The tagline is decent.

Backdrop 1/1

Excellent.

Logo 1/1

Good.

Action Shots 5/5

Good variety of close-ups, unboxing, and gameplay. If anything, you could remove some redundant images. I don't think you need five different tiles.
I'm not sure what the Ready For Monsters image is.

Description 4/5

Excellent summary. The only thing I might add would be a thematic setting to make the gameplay more immersive. (Where are we, why are the monsters invading, etc?)
Minor tweaks: The first sentence duplicates the headline, so it's not necessary.
Typo: "...allowing players to create random 5x5 kingdom map." *"maps" or "a random map"

Video 2/5

Content is decent.
The sound is very quiet.
There is glare in one corner.
Ideally, you would include a short introductory/ad video to get people interested. Then they could follow with the full 16 minute video.
