Sanity Test for Sneeze

76/100
Final Score
Minor confusion about how cards interact, but most should have little trouble catching on.

Rules 61/80

Structure 7/9

Intro should come before table of contents. The table of contents is not really necessary for a four-page rule document - the same result could be achieved by making the section headers stand out just a little more. Setup should come after contents and before detailed descriptions of the cards.

Requirements 0/3

On box, should be listed near the beginning of the rules.

Introduction 2/3

Good, but second paragraph on the shop page should be incorporated in the intro or objective to give us a little idea of what gameplay will involve.

Overview 2/3

A little bit about gameplay would help - are we drawing and playing cards, playing from a large hand, trading cards?

Component List 5/5

"Players use these cards to infect players with germs or to cure them. " Is "them" the germs, or the players? '...cure infected players.' would be more clear. Second sentence on Germ cards says "ten"; list and later text say 11.

Component Pictures 3/3

Included in subsequent sections, so not needed in list.

Setup 8/10

Setup Pictures 5/7

Game Play 10/15

It would be clearer in the examples if you used the names of the germs, not just the generic 'same type', and 'Once infected with a germ type or color, the player can "spread" a germ card of a matching type or color' would be more clear than "Once infected with a germ type or color, the player can "spread" a matching germ card". It's inherently confusing that the same germ can cause each different color of infection, and each color of infection can be caused by different germs. A more specific term than "type" would help: 'strain' or 'species', perhaps, since many will think "type" could refer to color, too. Should be noted that it's only YOUR OWN cards of the color of your choice that are cured by the Rainbow Antibiotic (or is it?). Nice touch having different flesh tones for the handshake card.

Game Play Pictures 5/7

Example is good, but some arrows and captioning would help clarify which cards are being referred to when.

End Point 6/6

Overall Comprehension 3/4

Clarity 3/3

Presentation 2/2

Shop Presentation 15/20

Ad 2/3

'Trash-talking' arrows referencing other games is novel. Copy is a little wordy; perhaps something like 'The "unclean" but fun game of catching, passing, and curing infections!'

Backdrop 0/1

Too simple. Tinting the background bacteria in the various colors of the game would liven it up, or pictures of the game in play.

Logo 1/1

Action Shots 4/5

Card close-ups are excellent; mid-game pictures seem to show an earlier version, composition does not show cards to best effect.

Description 4/5

It would be better to have a briefer synopsis of game play on the shop page, since we can download the rules if we want - since the rules ARE there, it is important that they are exactly the same as the downloadable ones. They mention ten and eleven germ types, too.

Video 4/5

It's not always clear what's happening in the video - it's hard to watch the animation & read the caption at the same time - narration would be better than captions. The dissolves between game states are also confusing - it's not clear what's a game event and what's a time-shift.
