Sanity Test for Chase Me Around (The Game)

71/100
Final Score
Simple card challenging game that needs a slightly clear description of the details.

Rules 57/80

Structure 7/9

Most of my comments will be focused on the main rules, with passing references to the variants. Overall, the variants seem to be properly structured and reasonably clear.
-- The main rules and the brief rules follow the expected structure. You might find it useful to put the explanation of individual cards on a back page, where players can find it more quickly, but this would be a minor improvement at most.

Requirements 3/3

Requirements are listed.

Introduction 3/3

The introduction is cute and colorful.

Overview 2/3

The overview description is clear. It might actually be a little too detailed -- you can talk about what players do to win (collect tokens, challenge, play cards for abilities), but you don't need to describe how abilities are described.
-- Watch out for unnecessary adjectives like "fun" and "beautiful". Let the player make the aesthetic judgments.

Component List 4/5

Components are listed. Again, watch out for those adjectives.

Component Pictures 3/3

Components are clearly depicted.

Setup 8/10

Overall, the setup rules are clear. But are the Village cards supposed to be face-up or face-down?
-- When mentioning the animal control meeple, start by pointing out that this is an optional/advanced rule.

Setup Pictures 7/7

The setup picture is clear and makes setup easy.

Game Play 5/15

Most of the rules are clear and easy to follow, for both the main rules and the variants. However, chasing seems to be important (it's in the title!) but it's never clearly explained. This should probably get its own section.
-- The card special abilities are hard to understand due to the mix of rules direction and flavor text / strategy advice. Try separating these out, with the rule for the card defined as specifically as possible, and any comments or flavor text in a separate paragraph.

Game Play Pictures 7/7

The visual examples are plentiful and clear.

End Point 5/6

The end game is a little unclear, mostly because the muddy description of chasing in the game play rules makes it a little hard to understand how tokens are being collected. It might help to summarize how tokens are collected as part of this section.

Overall Comprehension 1/4

The writing style makes it a little hard to be sure, but I think I would get the game right based on the rules description.

Clarity 0/3

You have a lot of asides and flavor text mixed into the rules text. That adds a lot of charm, but it makes the rules themselves hard to follow. Try to keep the rules text brief, to the point, and together, with comments and advice separated into different paragraphs.

Presentation 2/2

The layout is simple but effective.

Shop Presentation 14/20

Ad 2/3

The ad image doesn't really stand out. The summary line and the bullet points are a bit hyperbolic but give the player a fair sense of what the game is like.

Backdrop 1/1

The characters and background are charming and fun!

Logo 1/1

The logo text looks good, but it's getting a little lost in the background image.

Action Shots 2/5

The shots are mostly okay, but one is out of focus, and some of the cropping seems a bit weird.

Description 4/5

The description is good, but overly wordy and detailed. The big card back picture is a bit overwhelming, too. Try taking out some of the play details, summarizing the gameplay and choices involved without getting down into the weeds of the levels of difficulty and exact description of a turn.

Video 4/5

The video describes the game well. The crowd sale information seems overly specific, though, and I'm not sure you need to spend so much time on it. A simple "there's a crowd sale going on and you can save if you buy now" might be all you need.
