Flip fish in the stream in order to catch the most fish!
It is finally the weekend! You and your friend head down to the stream to enjoy nature, catch some fish, and have a friendly competition. Players will be catching the six different species of fish, tactically flipping them in order to catch the fish in-between. The player who catches the most fish plus does the best on the bonus for the game is the winner!
Game turns are quite simple. Take a main action of flipping a fish in the stream, drawing a card, or playing a fish to the stream which will flip two other fish in the stream. Then catch any of the smaller fish surrounded by the larger fish. Don't be fooled - this makes for some very thinky turns!
Each copy of the game will come with a two page rule book, 30 double-sided fish cards using public domain art from the 19th century, two wooden fish tokens, 12 free action mini-cards, and two player aids.
A quick summary of the rules: There is a stream of fish cards laid out between the two players. Players are attempting to get two of the same type of fish surrounding smaller fish of a different species. If you are successful in doing this you catch the smaller fish. The game ends when one player has caught 10 fish. Each caught fish is one point, plus any bonus points you earn by completing your own bonus card or the shared bonus card you both are competing to achieve. On your turn you can take of of three main actions: Draw a card, flip a fish in the stream, or play a fish to the stream causing the next two fish downstream to flip. Before or after you take that one main action you can also use any once a game free actions to manipulate the fish in the stream so you can catch them. Then after you have caught a fish the top card of the deck goes into the stream. That is a very quick summary on how the game plays.

I love fishing, especially Smallmouth Bass fishing, and I love board games. With those two great hobbies in mind I set out to design a game about fishing and Fish Flip is the result! This is a labor of love as I've put many many hours into the game over the past few years and will make $1 per copy sold. It is more about giving others the chance to experience something I created about a hobby I love that looks nice and maybe brings some joy with to them and their spouse, kid, parent, best friend, and whoever else they play games with!
If you like almost perfect information games, where you can really figure out your best move at the moment, knowing almost everything that will be coming - then there is a good chance you'll like Fish Flip. If that sounds like something you would enjoy, the puzzle of making the best move and keeping your opponent in a bad position by manipulating the stream just right, then perhaps you are at the right place!
Thank you to all those that have play tested this over the years with me, gave advice on how to make it better, and had some fun in the process!
