8-Bit Zombie Smash - cards only

8-Bit Zombie Smash is a quick solitaire 'tile-laying' card/dice game that plays in 10-15 minutes. Your goal is to smash as many zombies as you can while creating safe houses within the neighborhood. You have a variety of weapons to use and certain areas to use them in. Try not to leave any zombies alone for too long because more will be created. Each card must lay on top of a previous card by at least one section or minus points are accrued.

In the Lone Survivor variation, you play the game using the RED d6 which represent the survivor. To play this variation you start the game with a random card that has a Safe House on it instead of the card with the four zombies. Place the RED d6 on the Safe House with the [6] showing on the die. Each turn when you place a new card, you must move the RED d6 "Survivor" from its current position to a safe space on the new placed card. The safe space can be a weapon or a safe house. You can also move diagonally on the cards. Each time you move through a zombie space "without a black die", the survivor takes 1 point of damage and you reduce the value on the die by 1. If you have to move through a zombie space that has a black die in it, you must take that much damage and immediately subtract the value on the RED d6 based on the value of the black die. If you take enough damage to reduce the RED d6 to less than 1 the game is over. As long as the newly placed card has either a weapon of a safe house, you must move the RED d6 to that new card. If the newly placed card only has zombies on it, you do not have to move the RED d6. If you can place your last card and still be able to move the RED d6 to it with at least 1 showing on the die, you win and can tally your score. Any value on the RED d6 is add to your total score.
