There are 3 different card designs to use as patches and 6 fabric scrap cards that can't be used in your block and must be discarded. There are 8 different 9-patch quilt patterns to match. The dealer gives each player 9 cards and places the remaining cards in the center as the draw pile. One card from the draw pile is turned over to start the discard pile. Players do not look at their cards. They place them in a 3 x 3 card grid in front of them. Each player turns over 2 cards to start the game. The player to the left of the dealer may choose the top card from either the draw pile or the discard pile.Then they place the drawn card in their grid or discard it. If they place it in their grid, they place the card from their grid in the discard pile. If they discard the card that they drew, then they must turn over another card from their grid. Play continues in a clockwise direction until a player completes their 9-Patch Match! The first person to create a block that matches one of the 9-Patch Example cards is the winner.
