This is the first expansion for Numinous Nonflict.
Acolytes that have achieved either journeyman or master status can be sent off as adventurers. You may only send one acolyte adventuring per turn. Each player may have up to one of each acolyte adventuring at once. When you send them adventuring the acolyte card goes back to the supply pile and you replace it with your personal corresponding “adventuring acolyte” card. (A sturdy chipboard upright.) This card now moves to one of your adjacent lands to where it just was studying. Each adventuring acolyte may only move once per turn.
Once per turn you may have one of your adventuring acolytes explore the region (land) it is in. It must be a previously unexplored region (with one exception explained below). To explore it, draw a card from the discovery deck. You may keep the discovery by tucking it slightly under the top of the land card to display what you've found there.
Now, instead of just obtaining lilies to win, you must complete your ulterior motive. You begin the game with an ulterior motive dealt to you at random. Later you may obtain a new ulterior motive by spending one ether resource.
The game ends when everyone has completed at least one ulterior motive. If you’re the first to win, you draw a new ulterior motive and move toward it.
On your turn you may do each of the following:
Acquire one acolyte. (+1 earthly resource for a second, +2 earthly resources for a third, etc)
Acquire one land. (+1 earthly resource for a second, +2 earthly resources for a third, etc)
Acquire one technology. (+1 earthly resource for a second, +2 earthly resources for a third, etc)
Acquire one arcania. (+1 earthly resource for a second, +2 earthly resources for a third, etc)
Move one existing adventuring acolyte.
Retire one acolyte.
Dismantle one arcania and retire all acolytes within (but only if you have not already retired an acolyte).
Send a studying journeyman or master acolyte adventuring.
Explore one land with an existing adventurer or re-explore one land with a mage and a paladin.
Draw a new ulterior motive.
