What do you get when you mix Carcassonne with Ticket to Ride, and then add airplanes?
In Airport Authority, you are the operator of a small, municipal airport. Every turn, new passengers automatically arrive at your airport and aircraft flying nearby attempt to land and pick them up. Your goal is to design a busy airport and help direct arriving and departing flights efficiently. For every aircraft that lands, fills up with passengers, and then departs, you earn one point as well as one dollar for every outbound passenger. Money is used to purchase further upgrades for your airport. At the end of the game, the player with the most points wins.
Much of the game will seem to novice players to be beyond their direct control; passengers and aircraft show up at random. However, strategic airport development is paramount! The player who wins will undoubtably need to grow their airport at a sustainable pace, dealing with the chaos they are dealt each turn before the queue of arriving passengers and aircraft becomes unmanageable. Planning for the end-game starts on the very first turn.
