The argyle pattern dates back to and is a slight modification of the Tartan patterns worn in Scotland. In modern times, the diamond patterns can be seen on sweaters, socks, hats, and more. There are even argyle prints on furniture and home decor.
In Argyle, players are creating a tile-like pattern by filling in colors/numbers that match their dice rolls. Two of the columns are strictly white as to allow the players the typical barrier between their colored columns. Each round, players have to cleverly position their new dice and colored diamond in order to either continue or build their pattern. The more symmetrical the pattern, the better your score.
It plays solo or up to 100 players. Each round players will be seeking ways to maximize points on their sheet while forming their Argyle pattern, each die they place triggers a scoring option for similar values adjacent to it
Argyle is pretty quick but quite puzzly, and it’s small footprint is great for travel.
