Description

Learning Game Challenge

Sentience is a peculiar anomaly of causality. Trillions of random events spanning an unfathomable timeline has led to a singular planet, among a star with 8 planets, among a galaxy with 100 billion stars, among a universe with 100 billion galaxies, to develop life complex enough to question the mysteries of their own existence. The story of our origin surrounds us, but it is up to us to uncover where we are from, who we are, and where we are going.   Players attempt in real-time to develop star systems teeming with planets, moons, comets and asteroids that are capable of supporting life through the attainment of Carbon, Oxygen, water and DNA. A player can win by either accumulating enough vital resources, satisfying objectives or intelligence has emerged. Random events occur during this process, and can either benefit or hinder your journey. Do you have what it takes to develop a star system capable of supporting life?

Learning Objective:

Life on earth has endured a long, treacherous journey throughout eons of time. Aurora's science theme and development tree mechanic allow players to understand the process humanity has taken throughout the universe, from the birth of a star to the emergence of intelligence. Aurora also incorporates the essential chemical components of life, Water, Oxygen, and Carbon, to reinforce the complexity and perfect conditions required for life to exist.

Our goal is to encourage players to understand our cosmic history, and to gain confidence in scientific theory.

Game title inspiration: It was a challenging process determining the name of Aurora, as we wanted the name to capture the essence of the game. "Aurora" is the Roman goddess of the Dawn, which metaphorically represents the dawn of life and humanity, so we felt Aurora was a great symbolic name for our game.
