In the year 2511 in a society run through Augmented Reality; omnipotent corporations have replaced each continent. A fast paced, cutting edge game known as BANKS is the neo-gladiator approved sport on Earth, with teams embodying each of their corporate spheres. As players you fight for your sphere's personal freedoms and to gain corporate favor.
In BANKS you face up to five various opponents. With the disks distributed over the light rails, your goal at the end of the game is the product of the number of disks in each captured color. Highest score wins, AMASS!
On your turn, move one of your disks in a straight line over any number of open spaces, possibly banking off edges or corners of the board, (like pool). You may stop at any point after moving at least one space.
If, after banking off at least one edge, your disk lands on a space occupied by any other disk (even one of your own disks), capture that disk by replacement. At the end of the game, your score is the number of disks in each captured color multiplied.
Preparing to Play
Distribute disks randomly on the grid, one disk per space, until there are either no more disks or spaces. Choose one player to be the first mover after sphere selection. Beginning with the player to the first mover’s right, going counterclockwise, and ending with the first mover, each player takes one disk from the board in a color not already chosen.
In games with 2 players, go around three times, and games with 3 players, go around twice. Games with 4 or 5 players will have extra unchosen colors remaining.
Players place their chosen disks in front of them to indicate the colors they may move. These chosen disks will also count for scoring at the end of the game.
The first mover then makes the first move, with turns proceed clockwise.
How to Play
On your turn, move one disk of your color in a straight line over any number of empty spaces in any of the six directions, possibly banking off edges or corners of the board. All banks happen at a 60° angle. Pay special attention to banks directly into the obtuse corners.
Banking through an obtuse corner from the board interior offers a choice of two possible banking edges, along the sides or top/bottom
While these are the only banks with a choice of direction, you may stop moving your disk at any empty space.
If you banked your disk off at least one edge, you may capture the disk at the first occupied space you encounter, replacing it with the disk you moved. Keep all captured disks in front of you, in view of all players.
Ending and Scoring
End the game immediately when you have no available moves on your turn. This could be because all of your disks have been either captured or are surrounded away from any edges. Any uncaptured disks remain on the board, unclaimed.
Your score is the product of the number of disks you captured in each color, including your own. At the end of the game, your score is the number of disks in each captured color multiplied.
