Description

When I was young, I was raised with a lot of Cajun culture. We played Bataille (Pronounced Buy-Tie-ah) (Battle/War) card game while the grown ups were playing Bouree' (Pronounced Boo-Ray). We also played it, by candlelight during hurricanes. We also learned about the Tataille (pronounced Tah-Tie-ah). A Tataille was a Monster. Each face card has a Tataille on it. Cyclops are aces. Trolls are kings, queens, and jacks. Minotaurs are tens, nines, and eights. Orcs are sevens, sixes, and fives. Goblines are fours, threes and twos.

It is a fun simple two player game. The deck is shuffled. Each players gets the same amount of cards dealt face down. Players do not look at their cards. Each players plays their unseen top card. The highest ranked card wins. The winner puts the won cards face up under their playing stack. If the cards played are the same rank, Bataille (Battle) occurs. Each players places one card face down, and then one card face up. Whatever face up card is the highest rank, they get all of the cards that were just played. It is possible that it will be another tie, and the same routine goes on. If a player gets to a face up card in their playing pile, they shuffle them, put them face down, and resume play. The first person to win all 52 cards wins the game.

Buy this game to help spread a little bit of Cajun Culture.

See It In Action Images: Image 1. Here is the two player set up. As you can see one player has a king and the other has a 7. Thw king is higher ranking, so that player puts both cards in his/her stack, at the bottom, face up.

Images 2-6. These show the updated background image for the face side of the cards.
