"Battalion Commander" gives you the chance to lead a small-unit action in World War II. It is a solitaire card game, inspired by Onirim but adapting the theme and mechanisms to an operational setting. All the cards and rules are available for print and play for free.
Play platoons from your four companies to seize the objectives. Combined arms are necessary: mix infantry with machine gun and mortar platoons to complete the attack. Bad communications hinder your ability to command, and untimely enemy fire attacks can break up your assaults just as victory seems within reach. You have to judge when to press forward with an existing attack and when to fall back to the reserves. Use your powerful mortar units in a direct attack, or save them to break up enemy fire? Reconnaissance units are among your most valuable assets: although they are little help in an attack, they can spy out enemy attacks before they happen, allowing you to deal with them when you are most prepared.
"Battalion Commander" is similar to Onirim but avoids the tedious reshuffling and searching through the deck that can come with that game. You have a chance to manage the deck, even rallying your units from the discard pile back into the action, but your margin for error is slim. Keep a steady hand and keep pushing forward to take all 12 objectives and lead your battalion to victory!
