Description
Grammar is one of the hardest subjects to teach. Students find the work boring, the words confusing, and question whether it’s even worth learning at all. It’s time to make grammar a little more fun.
“Battle Royale” is a card game for student pairs that helps reinforce what you’ve taught them about action verbs and linking verbs. It covers common linking verbs (are, appear, seem), sensory linking verbs (smell, feel, look), and less common linking verbs (grow, remain). It covers a wide range of action verbs including: put, get, throw, steal, insult, jump, find, pummel, use, smack, apologize, and stub, to name a few.
In this game, students pretend to be wrestlers in a no-holds-barred wrestling match. They pair off and use Action Verb cards and Linking Verb cards to “perform” moves on each other until one is put into submission. Note: Students will not actually be performing wrestling moves on each other.
