McMeeple Gateway to Games Design Contest

Busy Buses is an easy to learn game about picking up and dropping off passengers! Get them to where they need to go. However, don't let the game's simplicity fool you; the game has many interesting decisions to make along the way.

• Do you go straight for your bonus colors?

• Do you try and upgrade your bus early?

• Do you block bus stops to slow other players?

A novel and fun perk of Busy Buses is the player pieces; they are buses that actually carry passengers around the board!

The yellow bus is feeling quite patriotic at the moment with the red, white, and blue passengers.

Setting Up:

Each play starts out differently with a modular setup of where each bus stop is. Some games may have short routes, and others may have longer routes, changing up potential strategies!

Playing the Game

Playing Busy Buses is super simple. You get three actions on your turn. There are only a few types of actions you can do:

• Move - move your bus!
• Pick Up - if you're at a bus stop, pick up as many passengers as you can fit!
• Drop Off - if you're at a bus stop, drop off passengers matching the bus stop color!
• Queue People - take a coin and then add a random person to the board by rolling the custom bus stop die!
• Upgrade Bus - if you're at the bus depot, spend your coins to upgrade your bus!

Winning the Game

When the game ends, all players score one point for each passenger delivered to their destination. Players also earn bonus points for each diversity set (one of each color). Each player also has a secret bonus card that gives extra points for specific conditions. This maintains the tension until the very end!
