2-4 players ages 12-up
Join the epic battle between ancient Roman Gladiators competing for glory and survival! Outplay your opponent and win the crowd’s favour – or face Caesar’s lions.
Caesar's Lions is an action/strategy card game for 2-4 players, ages 12 and up. It combines the simplicity of paper/rock/scissors with the excitement of arena combat for simple but challenging gameplay every time. Choose the right Gladiators at the right time to defeat your opponents and win your freedom!
We set out to make a game that combined the simplicity of Coloretto with the action of Bang! and the surprises of Stratego – in a format that is 100% playable with as few as two players. If you're a fan of either of these classic games, or if you enjoyed the movie Gladiator, you're sure to enjoy Caesar's Lions.
Enjoyed by card game enthusiasts and young novices alike, Caesar's Lions features a strong balance of simplicity, strategy and action. The artwork includes realistic imagery and original Latin names for an immersive and entertaining experience.
Simplified description of Caesar's Lions gameplay:
From the 13 Gladiator cards dealt to you, choose 6 Defenders (face down on the table) and 7 Attackers (your hand).
Take turns attacking opponent Defenders with your Attackers. You won't know what they are until you attack them - but once attacked, they remain revealed. Gladiator combat is resolved based on their weapons: sword breaks spear, spear penetrates net, net snares sword... but a defending lion defeats ANY Gladiator! If you win a matchup, continue; when you lose a matchup, your turn is over.
When you can defeat all 6 of an opponent's defenders, that opponent is eliminated.
You can also recruit more Gladiators, swap out Defenders, and collect a host of other special cards – including the chariot, the crowd's favour, or the hunter (who can defeat the lion but falls to any Gladiator). Last Gladiator standing wins!
