Christmas Tree: The Decorating

OVERVIEW:

In Christmas Tree, players competitively build and decorate a communal tree while scoring points for matching lights and ornaments.

SETUP:

Each Player is dealt 6 random Tree Cards. Each Player also takes a Scorecard and Meeple to track their score. The Player who lost last goes first, otherwise the Player whos birthday is closest to Christmas goes first.

GAME PLAY & CARD PLACEMENT:

• Players alternate turns placing 1 Tree Card and scoring as many Victory Points as they can.
• Each card is double-sided, and may be played face-up, face-down, right-side up, and/or upside-down.
• Placement rules require the shape of a Christmas Tree to be built, which contains 4 rows of cards (4 Cards at the base, 3 Cards, 2 Cards, 1 Card at the top).
• The first card played is just placed out vertically.
• Subsequent cards played are also played vertically, and must be played either adjacent to a card in an existing row, or can be played in a row above/below 2 cards (bridging or between them).
• Once the Tree is completed, Players may place their last card on top of any other card, giving them the chance to score the most points!

SCORING VICTORY POINTS:

• 2 points are awarded for every 2-bulb cluster that is completed with matching colors.
• 3 points are awarded for every 3-bulb cluster that is completed with matching colors.
• 1 point is awarded for every adjacent matching ornament (AMO) on a card touching the one just played.
• 0 points for each Players' first card played.

END OF GAME:

When the 12th Tree Card has been played and scored in a 2 player game. The Player with the most victory points is the winner.

ALTERNATE RULES:
