Throughout history, swords have been a favoured weapon for duelists. Many games have simulated such duels, but Clean Cut focuses on precision timing, with cards forming a dynamic and fast-flowing timeline of events. Players use semi-simultaneous resolution with an innovative card-based time track to define how combat plays out. Each player has only 6 action cards, and will usually have only 4 to choose between, cycling the cards from the table back into your hand as you go. Even with only 4 cards in hand, any of them can be played as a fast or slow action, with the different speeds not only affecting your timing, but how the card interacts with the opponent's competing actions. These cards and their fast and slow variation create parries and ripostes, evasive counterhits, and emergent attack combinations. Matches are fast, because it only takes one Clean Cut to find victory!
