In Damnatio ad Gladium you are the lanista, or owner of a gladiator school in Ancient Rome. The board is a rondel with action spaces in the shape of an amphitheater with the arena in the center. The main driving mechanisms are rondel movement, deck building, and area control. The players will play cards which will drive movement along the rondel, special actions, and placement of gladiators onto one of the 3 events depicted in the arena. Meta progression: Once the game is over, players can keep their decks as they have built them for the next game and a fresh set of events. There are a total of 12 different events and the idea is to track points across 4 total games playing all events. You could also start fresh without progression each time.
