Dic*tio*na*ry: The Game

In Dictionary: The Game, we give you all the components to play an updated version of the game that used to be played with dictionaries back when they were starting to become a household item!

People used to not believe in the necessity of having a big vocabulary for their lives as hard-day laborers but soon came along traveling salesmen with the big promise of great knowledge at a tiny price, affordable for most people at that time.

Soon, as the dictionary became read over and over from cover to cover, games about words and their definitions popped up and those games began to bring much joy to children and adults alike. Here is one of those beloved games with a little bit of modification so that it can played as simply as possible and with equal chances amongst all the players.

In Dictionary the Game, the first step is to find a word that matches the characteristics determined by the throw of 2 dice. One dice determines the letter or letter group one can look through, the other throw determines the word's structure including word length and syllable count. After that player finds it, the other contestants have to guess its meaning.

A point (token/wink) is given to the studious or lucky player who has guessed the meaning in 60 seconds or less. If nobody can guess its meaning the word finder must remember the meaning. If he or she does he or she gets that point instead! Its a great brawl of shout outs and blind shots but its interesting how much more of a vocabulary you gain all while playing a game of random words and their basic meanings.

All the instructions are clearly printed on the box for easy reference and we've found that the box itself is also very useful as a rolling cup for the 2 dice. All you need to provide is the Dictionary and this set will allow you to play this historic game with ease.
