There are four powerful factions of mages, each with their own methods of bending the world with their mystical arts.
The factions enjoy a friendly rivalry. You are a mage representing your faction at the annual Grand Tournament. Here, the wisest and strongest mages compete in this game of skill and intellect. Dissemination allows mages to show their mastery of the base natures of reality itself: Fire, Ice, Lightning, Water, Forest, and Wind.
If you win the tournament you earn the title of Prime Magus, bringing glory and honor to your faction.
The Base Game of Dissemination is played in two “Acts”.
In Act 1, players take turns laying out their cards, creating a unique playing field each game.
In Act 2, players may move their cards and capture enemy cards. To capture an opponent’s card, you must surround it with enough of your cards to overpower it. But each card has special powers, making the interactions between cards complex and highly strategic.
Every card you capture is worth the Victory Points listed on the card. The first player to capture 25 points worth of enemy cards wins.
The Advanced Game of Dissemination adds an “Act 0”. In this version of the game, you must build your deck of cards before play can begin.
Along with deck building, the Advanced Game also adds new cards with new powers and adds Faction cards. Faction cards are more powerful than regular cards, but they also earn your opponent more Victory Points if they get captured.
We believe that artwork is great, and makes a game pretty. But ultimately whether you love a game or hate it will be based on how fun it is to play.
Games are about sitting down with friends and family--and possibly your parrot, as long as it never again says that word in front of Aunt Matilda (that was an awkward day)--and having fun.
And so Art-Free Games was born. Our goal is to make enjoyable games that prove you don't need art to have fun.
In the end, it's all about the game.
