Objective:

Be the first player to cleverly spell out words of 3 letters or more and empty your hand of cards to claim victory!

How to Play:

First, decide who the dealer will be. Shuffle the deck of cards and deal 9 cards to each player. Each card has a single letter (except for special cards). Place the remaining cards face down in the center as the "draw pile."

Gameplay:

The player to the left of the dealer kicks things off by drawing a card from the draw pile. Next, they can strategically "spread" by arranging their cards to form words of 3 letters or more. Go big and spread multiple words if you can! Regardless of spreading, players must discard one card face up into the "discard pile" (not the draw pile). The next player has a choice: pick the top card from the discard pile or draw a card from the draw pile. They can then spread their own words or discard unwanted cards.

Winning the Game:

Continue playing clockwise until one player successfully clears their hand of cards. That player is the DownWordz! champion!

Special Cards and Rules:

Look out for the Pick Two and Pick Three cards! Playing one of these cards means the next player must draw the specified number of cards and lose their turn. The Skip Card is another game-changer. Play it, and the next player is skipped and misses their turn. If an opponent has already spread words, you can join the action during your turn by adding, inserting, or rearranging letters within their words. Just ensure the new word still has three or more letters and retains all the original letters.

Notes:

You can enhance your word-building skills by adding letters to existing words, creating new ones, or even rearranging letters. Remember, you can rearrange letters but cannot remove them from words that have already been spread. Proper nouns and abbreviations can't be spread. If the draw pile runs dry, shuffle the discard pile (except for the top card) to replenish it.
