A crew aboard a United Federation Spacecraft, the UFS Ingenuity, is under siege from within. Someone on the crew has sabotaged the systems and the crew must work together to bring the systems back online. As it stands now, the ship is derelict, drifting through space. An alert sounds, and the defense system AI comes on in the bridge, "Proximity Alert. Evasive Maneuvers Recommended.” The bridge crew stand, helplessly looking at the heads-up display. A large asteroid floats off in the distance, the ship headed directly towards it. The uneasy feeling on the bridge grows as the crew rush to their stations in an attempt to repair the systems as quickly as they can. Work too fast and they risk making a mistake. Work too slowly and they risk not finishing in time. With their impending doom only a few minutes away, only the crew can save themselves now…
Drifting pits a cooperative team of players as the bridge crew in a race against an unknown enemy. Among them are saboteurs on a suicide mission to prevent them from returning vital information back to the space station by destroy the ship. They must attempt to remain hidden at any cost. The crew must work together to attempt to repair the ship's systems, all while the life support is slowly and unpreventably failing. If life support reaches zero, the crew will suffocate and die, failing their mission. If the ship cannot be repaired in enough time, it will collide with the asteroid, killing everyone aboard.
No matter what happens, players must learn to trust one another to form alliances and weed out the enemy as quickly as they can to accomplish their mission and return safely to the space station.
