Dwarven Euchre adds a strategic layer to the core mechanics of a popular card game.
It takes the cooperative partner play of standard euchre and adds: a territory map, sorcerer wildcards, reinforcement draws, and a fantasy theme.
The goal is for one team to capture the center hex, but getting there will require board position, tactical use of reinforcements, trick taking skill, and a dash of luck.
Experienced euchre players can get started after a few pages. The rules booklet teaches the game, has rounds of sample play, and optional rules. It's best with 4 players, but there are rules for 2 players.
Review from the TGC Co-Op contest judge: "Taking the rules from Euchre and blending them with a fantasy theme works well for this game. Lots of small touches, plus the addition of a map, make for a fresh feel. The artwork and presentation are strong, and the rules are written in a clear, detailed way that makes it possible for someone who has never played the classic game to play this one."
