Either/Or is my attempt to create a "neverending" word game in English in the same vein as the Japanese game Shiritori, that would be a fun activity in the car or train, or waiting in lines with friends or family.
Like Shiritori, players take turns giving words, and the words they give determine what kind of word the next player can say. At the start of Either/Or. the players agree on two conditions that will dictate how players can answer. These are generally comparitive adjectives, like "heavier" or "more useful." A player needs to come up with a new word that satisfies one condition but not the other, when compared to the previously stated word.
Choose two conditions from the reverse side, either deliberately or randomly.
One player begins by stating a thing, either real or abstract.
Taking turns, state a new thing that, when compared to the previously stated thing, satisfies either but not both of the two conditions.
Either/Or works great in the car with family (even the driver can participate!) or in a classroom setting with learners of English.
Either/Or is an entry in The Game Crafter Single Card Challenge. Follow the link to see all the games, give feedback, or vote!
