Description
You are a powerful wizard wielding the very elements of nature itself to overcome your opponents in this trick-taking game.
No matter how strong you are in an element, there is always the possibility of being trumped by your weakness to a different element.
And your opponents may force you to pull in the darkness, weakening your final standing.
Elemental Tempest is a trick taking, point scoring card game for 3 to 5 players. Each round, each player in turn plays a card from their hand, following suit if possible. If you can not follow suit, you can play a card of the Element that trumps that current suit changing the suit and nullifying the previous suit. The person who played the highest ranking card takes all the cards played that round and sets them aside for later scoring. Rounds continue until all cards are played, then they are scored. The first player to end a round with over 60 points is the winner.
Cards with a value of 1-5 score 2 points each, those with 6-10 score 1 point, and 11 & 12 score zero points. Plus the Darkness card scores you -2 points, and you lose control of the round when you take it.
Optional rule to use Total Darkness causes the Darkness cards to negate all the points in that trick except for itself. Use this for a more take that style of play.
