There seems to be a lot you suddenly can’t remember.
Why did you take a photo of your apartment?
Who’s that man in the polka dot tie looking at you strangely?
And why can’t you remember your mother’s name?
And all you have in your pocket is a mysterious business card that has a picture of an. . . elephant?
Elephant is a ‘70s-style paranoid thriller where you’re trying to uncover the truth about a mysterious organization that seems to know everything about you. Use cards to solve puzzles, and choose which path to take, what to do next, and who to trust.
Elephant is a ‘choose-your-own-path’ game. This means you read the first passage and, when you reach the end, you get to choose what happens next. Usually, that’ll be a choice between going to one numbered passage or another, but sometimes you can use knowledge you’ve gained through the game, or cards you’ve collected, to find another numbered passage to go to.
You keep playing this way, choosing your path through the story, until you reach an ending. Then you can start over from the beginning or, more likely, backtrack to the last passage and choose another path. We won’t tell.
The goal is to reach the end of the story. There is more than one ending, however, and only by playing smartly will you reach the ‘best’ ending.
