Emo Connect

Emo Connect is a simple game that will encourage children with SEN to explore and learn about different emotions.

NOTE: This game is designed for children aged 5 and older.

In this game, players take turns picking a card from the SENGO Emotion Cards, which will tell them what part of the board they can occupy. They then pick a card from the SENGO Feelings Question Cards to get a question to answer. This will earn them the point and they can place their token down. To win players must make a straight line with their tokens (length of your choosing). We recommend a straight line of 3 tokens to start off with, especially with the younger ones, going up as your children progress too (but no more than 5).

Emotional Vocabulary/ Awareness

As part of this game, there are a variety of questions that the players need to answer to move on in the game. This will make players have to think about them, and potentially discuss them. As a teacher/ parent, you can provide opportunities for discussion or alter the game [see instructions] in order to better focus on particular emotions of your choosing.

Empathy/ Perspective

Not only will they be answering questions regarding emotions, but they will be hearing their peers do the same. This means they might listen and compare to their own. If you explicitly want your children to make these comparisons, as a teacher/ parent, you can provide moments to discuss them.

In addition to this, the simplicity of the game means that those children of lower ability, or with attention issues can still participate in this game properly.
