The game play is a strategy of good vs evil or good guys vs the villain, Locomotive Satan. The railroad track flow is designed to reinforce the desirable Christian attributes through game cards, tickets, and building the Engine No. 77 Train while avoiding the villain. The goal of the game is to:
The winner of the game is the first person to get the game play piece home first. Locomotive Satan does not have a “home” and is continually roaming the track, looking for prey. Locomotive Satan cannot enter the “home” area or Heaven.
Game Objective: The game is designed to reinforce the eight attributes of a Christ like attitude or the desirable characteristics of a Christ-like manner, based on II Peter 1:5-7 (faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, kindness, and charity).1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
Game Action:
Dealer deals one card to each player face down.
You turn the card over. Beginning player is decided by the card drawn: Engineer 1st, Conductor 2nd, Trainman 3rd, and Brakeman 4th. Engineer is also in charge of the Locomotive Satan. Every time the Engineer takes a turn, the Locomotive Satan also must roll.
Game play proceeds from the player Start Station. Locomotive Satan proceeds from the Locomotive Start Station.
The person who draws the highest card to begin play is also in charge of the runaway train, Locomotive Satan. Locomotive Satan begins the journey from the Start Station and proceeds around the track, attempting to detour, collide, or destroy the opposing players. It is on a collision mission.
Step by step turn:
Safety Tickets: If you are taking a turn, moving forward in play, and the runaway Locomotive is sitting stationary, you cannot pass the train. You must stop and draw a Safety Ticket, and follow the instructions on the ticket. You cannot bump the Locomotive Satan out of the way or send it back to Start Station, however, if you are sitting stationary and the Locomotive comes toward you, it can bump you out of the way and send you back to Start Station. Safety tickets are rewards for good-bad behavior and reflect the 8 attribute words through acts and deeds of service. Example: When a direct confrontation with Satan occurs, you must draw a Safety Ticket. The ticket states an act or deed you did and gives the reward or judgment of the deed. Example “You donated to charity proceed forward 10 spaces.”
Railroad Stations: The railroad stations are based on the Railroad System. The Start Station is the beginning area where the game pieces are stored. Unction Junction is where two railroad tracks intersect. Patience Stop is a small stop over area located along the railway. Prayer Station is a small stop over area to relax and meditate. Victory Station is another small stop. “The Hub” depot is centrally located to all the stations and is a busy area with trains arriving and departing. The Port of Renewal is located central to the other busy railroad station areas. Locomotive Satan has a Start Station located in close proximity to the Port of Renewal.
Locomotive Satan: The runaway locomotive game piece or the villain, is manipulated by the high card player who begins the game play. Play begins at the Start Station of Locomotive Satan, located in the top right corner of the game board. The Locomotive Satan does not follow the play cards, game board directives or railroad signs. It is on a collision mission to seek and destroy. The player pieces are heading/traveling the track toward heaven, home, while Locomotive Satan is traveling the track away from heaven. (going in opposite directions, or heading directly toward each other.) Every time the high card player takes a turn, he/she also rolls the dice once for the Locomotive Satan train.
The locomotive advances play only at the turn of the high card player If the Locomotive meets an opposing game piece while moving the spaces, it bumps the player piece back to the Start Station. The player must start over. i.e. if you are sitting stationary and the Locomotive comes toward you, it can bump you out of the way and send you back to Start Station. It proceeds around the track in the opposit direction of game play. The Locomotive does not follow the traffic signs, signals, or exit/enter points; it enters at will through the exit ramps, and does not stop at railroad crossing signs. It is on a collision mission.
If you are taking a turn, moving forward in play, and the Locomotive is sitting stationary, you cannot pass the train. You must stop and draw a Safety Ticket, and follow the instructions on the ticket. You cannot bump the Locomotive out of the way or send it back to Start Station.
