Welcome to your exciting new career as courier for Express Delivery. Here at Express Delivery, our primary role is getting the right packages to the right places right on time. Your primary role is help us fulfill our primary role.
We love packages here at Express Delivery. Whether boxes, envelopes, tubes or any other container, each one brings us a buzz of excitement as it enters our Depot. We care for each packages as if it were one of our own children. We guide it through the depot, nurturing it along the way until we deliver it into the big wide world.
In this game, each player is a courier for a company called Express Delivery. There are up 100 dice of three different colors in a bag. These dice are drawn at various points to represent the arrival of different packages into the facility. A roll of these dice packages determines how soon they need to be delivered. Your job as a courier is to deliver as many parcels on time before the end of the game.
You can also receive bonuses for delivering the most packages of a certain type, or delivering packages early, or being the most efficient.
The Express Delivery depot is made up of 6 bays representing how soon the packages in those bays need to be delivered. The left most bay holds the packages that need to be delivered within the next 6 hours. The right most bay holds the packages that need to be delivered within the next 1 hour.
Here is how the depot looks with packages in it.
On your turn you will choose packages to deliver. You choose one of the bays in the depot and pick at least one package from that bay to deliver. You place the packages in your delivery scheduler.
There are three different colors of packages. Green packages take one hour to deliver. Yellow packages take 2 hours to deliver because they are further away. Red packages take three hours to deliver as they are furthest away from the depot.
Green packages take up one delivery slot.
Yellow packages take up two delivery slots.
Red packages take up three delivery slots.
Your scheduler will be filled with a mix of different color packages.
The picture above shows some dice with tokens underneath them. The blue tokens show you will be delivering the package early. This gives you positive reputation.
The green tokens show you will be delivering the package late. This gives you negative reputation.
These reputation points affect your score at the end of the game.
Here is a shot of a three player game in progress.
At the end of each players turn, time advances 1 hour. This means that any package in your 1 hour delivery slot is delivered. Place it in front of you for end of game scoring. All the other packages and cubes in your scheduler move one space closer to the one hour delivery window.
Also, all packages in the depot move one bay to the right. The face value of the dice is also increased by one to make those packages more valuable to deliver.
At the end of the game the packages you have delivered are worth the points on the face of the dice.
Green packages are worth 1 x Face Value. Yellow packages are worth 2 x Face Value. Red packages are worth 3 x Face Value.
Tokens you have received also gain you points (or cost you points in the case of late packages). There are also bonuses for tasks such as delivering the most red packages, most green packages, most early packages, delivering most efficiently, and more.
The courier with the most points at the end of the game is the winner.
