Fate vs The Devil is a solitaire card game that features set collection as the key task during play. This coincides with careful hand management and deck building on your part.
During this game you represent Fate, who is in a race against the Devil to collect the most souls from the medieval place known as the realm. Collecting cards to place in your crypt will earn you those souls. At the end of the game, soul points are calculated to determine the winner.
The Devil is a game-controlled opponent that only maintains a crypt and discard pile; whereas, you maintain the equivalent, along with hand cards and a player deck.
Aside from providing you with soul points, realm cards can serve you in other ways, such as acting as currency to purchase more cards, or as a way to perform special actions. Card purchases are made from the realm or from the Devil, with the latter requiring a higher premium.
