This is a strategy card game with rules that are uniquely opposite to other similar games. The result is a change in game play that is new and exciting. The added power cards are fair but devastating to the opponents. Who doesn’t want to Fire Scorch?
Each player takes turns playing a card from their hand that matches the color or number of the previously played card. To score a point, you need to end the round with no cards left, or have the lowest card value at the end of play. Play continues round by round until someone scores 4 points.
There are several power cards that add an interesting dynamic to the game. For example the Fire Scorcher card makes the next player draw 5 cards and the player who played the Fire Scorcher card can immediately play two more cards. No other game has cards like this.
And unlike many other games where the high value cards count against you at the end of the round, an interesting twist to this game is that the power cards are not worth any points. This sets up an interesting dichotomy between wanting to play these cards in order to lay havoc against your opponents, weighed against the need to win with a low total card value. It is fun to play using any strategy.
The fire themed graphics enhance game play by creating a sense of excitement and danger. However, the game is not violent and is appropriate for the entire family.
