Roll a die and then place it in the grid. The first four moves of the game must always be made inside the white line. No player's second move may flank.
Flank your opponents' dice (with no gaps) to reduce their values (by the lower of your flanking dice).
Reduce a die to zero to open the square up again, or reduce it past zero to take that space over!
Play outside the red line only when flanking.
The first player with at least 13 dice in the grid wins!
Flanxiety takes minutes to learn (you just read all of its rules!) and years to master, and the game remains accessible to new players, even against fairly skilled opponents!
Flanxiety uses simple subtraction to determine the effects of each player's move. All answers fall in the range of –5 to +5.
While it's not the game's primary purpose, Flanxiety can be used to help students get more comfortable with subtraction and negative numbers.
