Description

forge-boss_SHOP-HEADER_AT-THE-FORGE.png

Sweat rolls down your face as the glaring heat from the forge pushes against you in relentless, tireless effort to finish the weapon for a local noble. You pull the yellow hot metal from the coke fire and lay it on the anvil and swing the heavy hammer onto the malleable surface over an over, carefully changing angle and position to flatten and shape the weapon.

After a seeming eternity of hammer strikes you lift the metal with your tongs and dip it in the slack tub. Steam rises from the tub as you hope for no cracks or warps. You pull the weapon from the liquid in the tub and hold it up, turning it, carefully examining the blade. It’s perfect - no cracks - no warps. Once again, you have proven your ability as a Dwarven Smith and feel pride and confidence as you move across the room to finish the weapon.

forge-boss_SHOP-HEADER_OBJECTIVE.png

The objective of Forge Boss is to be the first to successfully complete forging the number of weapons required to win the game. A game of Forge Boss will have one to four weapons, each with varying resource and skill requirements, which must be forged In order to win the game. The number of weapons and which specific weapons which will be used in each game is pre-determined by the players.

The objective of Forge Boss is to forge weapons. There are a few important things about how to utilize the Weapon Cards during a game of Forge Boss.

  1. All players will forge the same quantity of weapons during the game.
  2. Players may choose to build 1 - 4 weapons during a game of Forge Boss.
  3. The number of weapons that are required to win the game is predetermined by the players before the game starts.
  4. All players will build the same TYPES of weapons during the game.
  5. The specific weapons that are required to win the game are predetermined by the players before the game starts.
  6. Players do not have to build weapons in the same order. Once the specific weapons have been agreed upon by the players before the game, each player may place them on their play mats in whatever order they choose.
  7. Weapons MUST be forged in the order they are placed on the play mat.

forge-boss_SHOP-HEADER_CARDS.png

There are three types of cards in Forge Boss: Weapons Cards, Tool Cards, and BONUS Cards.

  1. WEAPONS CARDS are used to determine which weapons will be forged during game play. They are given to player at the beginning of the game and laid face-down on their game mats until they are successfully forged.
  2. TOOL CARDS represent the four blacksmith tools that must be collected in order to forge a weapon. They are given to players at the beginning of the game and laid face-down on their game mats until they are collected at which time they are flipped face-up to show the player has collected the tool. They are flipped back facedow at the start of each new weapon that is being forged and must be collected again.
  3. BONUS CARDS are gained during game play. They are not easy to get, but the reward are great including: negation of air or heat increases/decreases, gaining extra skill points, automatically balancing air and heat to the levels needed, and the ability to ignore a dice roll and re-roll. Bonus cards are held by the player until they are used then discarded.

forge-boss_SHOP-HEADER_GAME-PHASES.png

There are four phases of game play. Players will move through these phases separately as the game allows them to do so.

  1. PHASE 1: FIRE IT UP! Phase 1 represents getting the fire in the forge burning and getting it as hot as possible. This is done by gaining HEAT and AIR tokens as you play.
  2. PHASE 2:HOT METAL! In Phase 2 of Forge Boss, players must maintain their AIR and HEAT and gather all of the tools necessary to forge a weapon.
  3. PHASE 3: HAMMER STRIKE! Phase 3 of Forge Boss takes us to our anvils where SKILL POINTS, HEAT, and AIR all matter. Each weapon card has SKILL POINT, AIR LEVEL and HEAT LEVEL requirements that must be met in order to move to the next Phase.
  4. PHASE 4: QuENCH IT! Phase 4 is where you quench your blade, assemble its hilt, pommel and other parts, and test it. Your fate lies in your hands as you roll the dice! If you are successful you get to flip the Weapon Card face-up and start the next weapon in Phase 1. If you fail, you must go back to Phase 2 for one round then work your way back to Phase 4 and try again.
