Sweat rolls down your face as the glaring heat from the forge pushes against you in relentless, tireless effort to finish the weapon for a local noble. You pull the yellow hot metal from the coke fire and lay it on the anvil and swing the heavy hammer onto the malleable surface over an over, carefully changing angle and position to flatten and shape the weapon.
After a seeming eternity of hammer strikes you lift the metal with your tongs and dip it in the slack tub. Steam rises from the tub as you hope for no cracks or warps. You pull the weapon from the liquid in the tub and hold it up, turning it, carefully examining the blade. It’s perfect - no cracks - no warps. Once again, you have proven your ability as a Dwarven Smith and feel pride and confidence as you move across the room to finish the weapon.
