Rule sheet v1.2

Full Counter, A post apocalyptic grunge themed strategy turn based card game. Where countering your opponent is key.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Objective
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Full Counter the main object of the game is to lose all of your cards. With the last player to do so being the loser, who must deal the next game. By using Power and ability cards to your best strategy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Set up Set up [imgur.com]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Each player is dealt three face-down cards in a row. Players are not allowed to see or change these cards.

On top of the face-down cards, they are dealt the same number of face-up cards. Three cards are again dealt to each player (face down), and this becomes the player's hand.

Players are then allowed to switch the cards in their 'hand' with their 'face up cards' in an attempt to produce a strong set of 'face up cards' for later in the game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting The Game
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The starting player is the first person (counting clockwise from the dealer) to have a face-up gold bar. If no gold bars are face-up, the first player to have a gold bar in their hand begins. (If no player has a gold bar in hand, the procedure is repeated for the first #3, and so on.) The starting player makes the first play to the pickup pile, and may choose any value.

Each player must lay a card equal to or higher in value than the one at the top of the pickup pile(you may play two or three of the same value of the same card, but the next player does not have to match or beat the amount of cards played).

Chain play, a player can play any amount of cards as long as the value is in consecutive order(if the last card of the chain is an ability card or power card the effect can be used).

After you play you cards you then draw cards from the deck so they have at least three cards in their hand (unless the deck has run out of cards or they already have three or more cards in their hand).

If they cannot play a cards, they then must pick up the entire pick-up pile and add it to their hand and end their turn.

If you can play then you must play. You can't hold on to the good cards until you need them. You can't strategically pick up the discard pile.

Play continues sequentially in a clockwise direction unless certain wildcards are played.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Final Phase
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When a player has no more cards in their hand, and the deck is empty, they may proceed to play from their three face up cards onto the pickup pile. They may not play from this set of cards until they have finished with their hand. If the deck is empty and there are no cards in the player's hand, they may lay one of the face up cards on the pile. The value of the face up card must be higher than the value of the card on the top of the pile, otherwise the player cannot play the face up card and must pick up the pile as well as one faced up card.

Once all of the face up cards have been played, a player must then play their face down cards, which are known as "blind cards". These must be turned over so that all the group may see what has been played. If the card is less than the previous card played, they must pick up the pile and put it in their hand, forcing them to play their hand again before progressing to the rest of their face down cards.

If a player is able to complete a set in turn (e.g. complete four-of-a-kind )they can do so clearing (burning) and removing the entire pile from play. For example if a player first plays of a kind and the next player in turn has the card they can drop that card to complete the set thus clearing the pile. The player who clears may play another card after.

If a player has no cards left to play, they are out. The loser is the last player left in the game. The loser deals the next game.
Winning And Losing The Game

Aside from the basic order of play, the core aspect of Full Counter is the "Power". Power cards may be played on any other card.

Power cards, which may be played onto any card, and can be followed by any card. Playing wildfire or a 4-of-a-kind removes the discard pile from the game, and gives the active player another turn.

There are two important distinctions between Nuclear Blast and wildfire; whilst both may be laid on any card, the Nuclear Blast does not "burn" the pile, and does not entitle the player to another turn: Following a Nuclear Blast the player's turn is ended and the subsequent player is then free to play any card they wish.

After wildfire is played, the same player may play any card, though without picking up a fresh card from the deck. Additionally, 4 of a kind can only be played in sequence, but does entitle the player to an additional turn to lay.

If a player played the dirty mirror card it simply becomes the same vale as the last played card, but does not inherit the same ability if the last played card was an ability card.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ability cards
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ability cards are indicated with a gold ring around the number of the card. if multiples of the same ability card is played at one time e.g. two Back Stabbers, the effect is used twice, skipping the next two players.

#3 Black Market #3 Black Market [imgur.com]
This card allows the turn order to change from clockwise to counter clockwise and vice versa if one was played earlier in the game.

#7 Back Stabber #7 Back Stabber [imgur.com]
This card when played will make the next player skip there turn so they miss a go.

#8 Magnetic Rays #8 Magnetic Rays [imgur.com]
This card changes the play order from ascending to descending, so now lower cards are worth more than higher valued cards.
