Welcome to the Geomythic Tarot!

This special tarot deck depicts the myths, legends, and folklore of human beings across the globe and throughout time. The religions of the world are gathered in this deck to offer guidance, provoke thought, and delight in the human experience. If you have never worked with tarot cards before, get ready for an exciting journey of discovery!

In the Geomythic Tarot, every card represents a different religious or cultural belief. The 22 Major Arcana cards embody the more well-known and widespread systems, while the 56 Minor Arcana cards encompass more localized or concentrated systems. No judgment is being made about the importance of one belief in comparison with another, nor is this deck intended to be an endorsement of any particular belief. Rather, this deck is a wide-ranging survey of the breathtaking history of humanity’s spiritual ideas and concepts.

A unique feature of the Geomythic Tarot is that every card’s picture has a mirror image. Unlike other decks, where the picture is upside-down for the querent, both people can view the image correctly during a reading. Triangles on the card indicate whether it should be read with its pivotal or inverted meanings. The images are carvings, paintings, sculptures, decorations, and natural phenomena, carefully selected to embody the meaning of the card.

Instead of a tiny booklet, a large 48-page spiral-bound book is included with this deck...no magnifying glass needed! In the first half of the book, the meanings of all the cards are clarified. Additionally, information about each picture’s cultural and artistic origin is provided. In the book’s second half, 33 original spreads are detailed, with a layout diagram and numbered questions for each.

I developed my first prototype of this deck over 15 years ago, and it has been evolving ever since. During the last 11 months, I poured an enormous amount of time and energy into assembling a commercial version to be published by the fine folks at The Game Crafter. While working within the traditional tarot structure, I started with a clean slate when generating the aspects of the deck, so virtually all of the card meanings and spreads are entirely from my little brain. In the process, I took deep dives into world history, religious beliefs, and art; I emerged with a greater awe and humble reverence for the Earth and its most complex inhabitants.
