Your ultimate goal will be to possess and play as much Dragon cards as possible during the game, but that will not be an easy task; there are only 13 of them, you are not the only dragon lover in the world, and you will need patience and strategic acumen, among other things.

Getting to the point when you can draw a Dragon card from the game board takes some time, and getting to the point when you are ready to play a Dragon card from your hand to the board may take a lot of time.

Well, I never told you growing dragons would have been easy.

Every Dragon card you will be able to play is a dragon you successfully managed to grow, and it will grant you points at the end of the game. However, please be aware that your competitors will (most likely) try to get in your way all the time, attempting to disrupt your strategy. You will have to be ready to change your action plan very often!

Game

In this game, players slowly build islands of adjacent cards around the game board, in turn playing 1 card from their hand

and drawing 1 card from the game board.

Draw-a-card.png

The sum of the values of the cards of an island is the value of that island.

When you play a card, you can place it anywhere on the board; it can be added to an already existing island (modifying its value) or it can be used to start creating a totally new island instead.

However, you cannot play whatever card you want from your hand and you cannot draw whatever card you want from the game board.

As a general rule, you can only draw a card belonging to the same category as the card you just played or 1 level above.

You can play almost any of the 4 cards in your hand...almost! You will be able to play a Dragon card only if its numeric value equals the value of 1 of the islands on the board. If there is no island matching the value of the Dragon card in your hand, you will have to wait and play other cards in the meantime.

Memory plays a vital role in this game; keep in mind that all the cards on the game board are face up, so some players may remember precisely the value of the Dragon cards you have previously drawn and may try to sabotage the islands you are interesting in (increasing or decreasing their value).

Later on in the game, if it's your turn to play and you are in a position to play a Dragon card, you can play it from your hand to the board, placing it adjacent to the desired island.

All the cards of that island (apart from the Dragon) will be removed from the game, you will move that Dragon to your side of the board and its value will be added to your score.

Another benefit of playing a Dragon card is that it grants players the possibility of drawing any card they wish from the game board (apart from a Dragon) immediately afterwards.

The game ends as soon as no player is able to play any card from his/her hand. At that point, players calculate their own final score, which is the sum of the values of the Dragon cards they managed to play during the game.

The player with the highest score is the winner.
