Han Characters

The roots of Asian writing systems stretch back over 3,000 years. Over a billion people use these characters daily. Now you too can gain a basic understanding of the building blocks of Chinese characters and Japanese kanji with Han Characters: The radical building game.

The most basic elements are called radicals or primitives. Collect radical cards and combine them to form more complicated characters. Then use characters and radicals to create multi-part words and phrases. By building up the components in this way, you internalize the structure of Asian characters and learn the basic meanings.

The game contains three different levels of increasing complexity. When you master one level, move on to the next, or combine levels for a greater challenge. Each game only takes about 20-30 minutes.
