Players take control of an influential city guild during a troubled royal succession. For the king has died without a direct heir. Now the Lords and Ladies of the noble families are jostling for the position. As a guild leader you must use that considerable influence to help steer your ideal candidate to a victorious coronation.
However the road is not simple as candidates that rise to prominence too quickly may find they have gained some unwanted attention.
Players cast hidden influence cards across three rounds to move the potential successor families up and down in their favour.
Having trouble with a rival successor always gaining more favour than your own? Don’t worry, hire yourself a disreputable assassin to remove that problem for you. Just hope they haven't posted guards that same night.
Worried about your own candidate? Don't fret, each family has a younger successor should the elder become... indisposed. However if they also meet a sticky end then it spells the end for your political ascension.
The subterfuge card is the most devious of all, completely throwing some carefully laid plans into disarray by rotating the next card underneath it to its other action.
