My dear apprentice,

If you are reading this, then unfortunately for you, you have found my last and greatest escape device. I was never able to finish it completely but left clues in this journal to help me remember what I was trying to build and how to get out while I was building it. You will need to do the same if you wish to go on living!

Unfortunately, the device is airtight and you will run out of oxygen in about 20 minutes. Use the pages of this journal to solve the lock equation and escape before it’s too late!

Inside the journal, you will find 4 puzzles that will help you discover 4 numbers which you will use in the final equation. If you need help, there is one clue card for each puzzle. Simply turn the clue card upside down to read the clue. The 9 artifact cards provide all the pieces of information you need to solve the puzzles.

I am sorry for your predicament, but I pray that you will have the will and mental agility to escape my greatest, if incomplete, escape device.
