The king is dead and his passing has left piles of wealth, and two ambitious heirs eager to seize the throne. In this fast paced hand management game, compete with your opponent to best use the riches of the kingdom and prove yourself worthy to be the next ruler!
To start the game, deal out five cards to each player. In Inheritance, each card has a level associated with it, between 1 and 9, that determines when you can play it. One player starts by playing any card. The two players take turns playing cards of level equal to or less than the level of the previous card played.
Cards have a variety of effects, from drawing cards to giving you VP (the points used to determine the winner of the round). If you can’t play any cards, or choose not to, you can pass, drawing one card. Your opponent is now free to play any card they want!
Once players have passed twice, the round ends and the player with more VP among cards they have in play wins the round. The next round begins with the player who didn’t most recently pass playing any card. Win five rounds to win the game! For more detailed rules, as well as a list of all of the cards, take a look at the PDFs on the right of the page.
The game consists of 27 different cards, with two copies of each. Rule cards are included in the deck for learning how to play, along with the scoring cards—everything you need to play is in the box!
