In Interlight, players control opposing flagships that have come across each other in deep space, both hoping to gain control of the same planet. By calling in reinforcements, they'll amass their fleets at this epic battle. Rolling dice to attack and maneuvering around the battlefield, the first player to destroy the opposing flagship wins the battle and takes control of the planet.
Additionally, a player may complete the planet's objective to win the game:
Military condition: Be the first to destroy 6 opponent ships.
Diplomatic condition: Occupy more adjacent spaces to the planet than your opponent for a total of 6 turns.
Interlight uses a relational system for its gameboard, meaning that the board is formed by the ships that are in play, rather than moving cards on a physical board. This way, the play space can be any shape and size that's needed for the battle.
Using the following five actions, you'll be able to form a tactical response to your opponent's onslaught and be victorious!
-Maneuver (move your ships)
-Call for Reinforcements (play new ships and launch fighters)
-Fire Cannons (fire your lasers! Destroy their ships with dice rolls and more powerful ships!)
-Engineer (heal and gain shielding to protect yourself)
-Upgrade (make your ships better in the heat of battle to go on the offensive)
With each action, you'll be able to play cards from hand and surprise your opponent with bonuses for specific actions and ship types, adding depth and timing to your strategy.
As you become more familiar with the game, you'll begin to favour certain ships and strategies over others. With the Advanced Drafting Rules, you'll be able to build a deck that suits you and take out the opponent with a fleet that feels like it's really commanded by you and your officers!
